A couple from the Gold Coast, moving to beautiful Hervey Bay and looking to design/build a contemporary timeless, inspiring home for the 2 of them, but with enough space for their kids and grandkids to stay.
The 2-story design should be adaptable with future needs in mind.
They both were attracted to the darker, moody & dramatic style house designs which often be found in cooler climates. Looking at comfort and energy efficiency, we knew we had to guide them into a softer but still dramatic direction.
Instead of the desired Monument, we suggested Standing-seam Colorbond Basalt-Matt paneling combined with PGH Tribeca ground-level brickworks, and using monument doors and window frames, we created a stunning colour palette.
The roof is hidden behind parapet walls, so we were able to use a lighter colour to reflect the sun and keep cool inside.
We captured their desired style being Contemporary, Connected, and Quirky, their wish of showing cosy and warm but also spacious, open, and light. A place where their memory-lane furniture and decorative unique pieces are eye-catching displayed, and which creates valuable story talking points.
