The clients brief was really open, but it had to be built within a tight budget (First home-owners). Modern, different and contemporary. Fresh, spacious and needs to have 4 bedrooms for resale value but they would like to have some rooms multi-functional for office space or media room. The house needs to be light and airy, with a lot of natural light and a good connection with the outdoor living spaces.
We took their love for nature and entertaining as a starting point and created an indoor-outdoor undercover area with big glass sliding doors and wrapped the house around it.To keep within the budget, we create a sense of space by making all the ceilings raked. (Height & light makes all area’s look a lot bigger)
Raked ceiling also create an options of louvres up high, bringing in lots of light and creating cross ventilation/airflow Opening the entrance door, the design enabling to look over the kitchen onto the garden wall, covered with white wisteria.
A Master bedroom design with full wall-sliding, floor to ceiling wardrobes. A glass block wall with 2 rain-showers which created dividing and connection of ensuite and master at the same time.
By using different materials on the floor, walls and/or windows in the 4e bedroom, it has been easy to give this room a multi-functional touch.
